(The .zip file is password protected and anybody else than #AnotherContestGroup is not authorised to use the skin.) EDIT: THE DARK VERSION ADDED. EDIT 2: THE GALLERY CSS & CUSTOM BOX CODE ADDED
About the journal skin:
- the skin respects the group colors - green, bright green, black, white; - the skin is simple and clean - very easy to read; - the logo should represent dynamic, modern, professional, smart and creative group; - the main text background is white (actualy it's nearly white color with very little grey tones - better for your eyes than strong white) because I think it's ALWAYS better for everyone to read black text on white bg than white on black (which really hurts your eyes after a while); - the menu is fully customizable - you can have as many links as you want (or you can simply remove it without destroying the layout; - you can separate every text block with nice title line - there is handy box in right side for features of members and groups - it could be "sponsors box" but it's of course customizable too; - you can create a special box for contests - Contest List - for better separation from another text; - one font for one skin.. no mixture of Verdana x Arial X Times etc. - the skin was tested with Google Chrome, Internet Expolorer, Mozilla Firefox; but it should works with every browser - the code is valid; Just go and look at the live version!
Hello #AnotherContestGroup has decided a winner for our Journal CSS Design Contest.
It was very hard work to decide a winner as all of our judges liked different ones for different reasons. So we opened it up to all our users and viewers and staff members for them to add their thoughts and opinions about the Journal CSS Entries that we submitted. As a result we finally went with the one which was rated the best of all <div align="center"> :thumb199193170:
still kind of hard to see the links, but better - also now the headers (on the group's front page) all are smashed to one side, instead of going all the way across (when not next to the sidebar)
Sooo.. I've uploaded the last and final version (I hope). I'm sorry for the problems again, but it's really hard to debug the code when you see another results on your private journal than on the group journal. I have no idea why this acts this way.. The password is still the same, so please, change the code in your journal for the new one. Thank you.. and again.. sorry sorry sorry..
okay well, we've come to a problem in the voting - the members of the group (that voted) voted (with a 30 vote gap between 2nd and 1st) for yours.. the problem is the judges voted it the 3rd best and NOT because of poor quality but because it doesn't match the groups color scheme.
I really think if you switch the colors, Maybe a gray background and a lighter color text? this would win, I'd also like to note that we still are considering using the white one for the actual month journals...
So I won the pool with pretty big gap.. which shows what the group members really want - I mean they want journal skin easy to read - black text on white background.. and you want me to change the colors to the worse color scheme for reading? :-/ I don't want to sound rude but maybe you should listen to your members because THEY have to read the long texts in your journals and it's bad when their eyes hurt.. I could change the whole color scheme, but you should know it would be many work again (because the code is a little complicated - titles are made by stretching picture, it needs to change contest list picture, sidebar picture..) So tell me.. I only want to know.. because I don't want to do needless work.. do I have to really change the code (color scheme)?
30 isn't that big of a gap when there was 160 for yours and 130 for 2nd...
we did the pole just to see what the members would want, but its ultimately the judges choices (and the founder) and the founder doesn't like it! I personally am just fine with what you have now, I mean I'd like centered headers, but everything else is perfect...
Like I said, it'd be the perfect journal (as is) for the contest listings, but for our first 3 journals (on the front page) we had a different color scheme... so guess I'm pointing it out, it won't win (by vote of judges, which what really matters) with a white scheme. The 2nd place journal had the right scheme - can't you make a same-style journal with a slightly darker background? mmm maybe change it to a shade of green? or a shade of gray? I'm not asking to completely re-format the journal!
Sooo.. done! Download the zip file again, the password is the same and there are two codes - dark CSS skin and light CSS skin.. so you can choose which one you want.
